Market Shaker – Bigg Market
This bar and club has neon signs, pizza and movies on the wall- what more could you want? They also have the famous blue drink Newcastle is famous for. With everything from Michael Jackson to ABBA, this bar caters to students and locals alike.
Holy Hobo – Jesmond 360
Another one for neon sign lovers, Holy Hobo has cocktails, pool tables and amazing food to start off your night. They have student drink deals Sunday-Thursday, so your overdraft won’t feel the burn. They also currently have an outdoor beach bar in the car park for an outdoor drink in the summer.
Dog and Parrot – Clayton Street
An independent bar across multiple floors, D&P is the place for indie and alternative fans on a night out and is a fan favourite with locals. The bar is always busy and the pool tables make a great pres activity. There are always deals on, including two cocktails for £10.
The Cut – St Nicholas’ Street
If you want to continue your indie night out, The Cut offers up indie nights on Rebel Thursdays and Jukebox on a Friday. A small club situated above Tup Tup, be prepared to queue- but it’s worth it!
Soho Rooms – Mosley Street
In the heart of the clubbing area of Newcastle is Soho, a trebles bar with four floors of music and plenty of space. Other nearby trebles bars include Bijoux and Sinners.
Grey’s Club – Grey Street
Just round the corner from Soho is Grey’s, one of the most popular Newcastle nights out. With Oops Monday, Dirtypop Wednesdays, Swingers Thursday, Block Party Friday and Rise on Saturdays, there is something for everyone across dozens of floors and rooms. A maze of a club, you will always find somewhere new with new music. They also serve blue drink in a can at their bars- the perfect treb.
Howlers, ChachaBuchi, La Fee and Verano – Collingwood Street
A new set of clubs attached to one another on the diamond strip, they offer everything from a tequila bar, absinthe, ball pit bar and a nightclub. Tickets allow you access into each of the bars and spanning three buildings and multiple floors, this place can be crowded on the weekends and event times such as Halloween.
Osborne Road
With too many bars to list, Osborne Road is the favourite for students living in Jesmond. Bars such as Blanc and Quattro, the road is the perfect place to pre before heading into town or can cater your entire night out if you don’t fancy the trip into town. And, with £2 Tuesdays on offer on the road, a night out won’t cost you a fortune.

Skint at The Points is the most affordable Thursday with drinks starting at just £1. Decades at Bohemia on a Wednesday plays the best throwbacks from the 80s to noughties. Ill Behaviour at Cosmic Ballroom on a Tuesday plays host to DJs playing house, techno and garage.
