I have a simple favour to ask of you. Go and watch the the original film, because you will definitely want to be on board for this second installment. The only negative about the whole movie is that it is spelt with the American version ‘favor’, not the British ‘favour’. But, we can just ignore that and focus on the top tier acting that goes on.
As reported by Deadline, Lionsgate and Amazon Studios are joining forces to make a sequel to this 2018 classic. Amazingly, they are hoping to reunite the original cast, which is full of all your favourite A-listers. Spearheaded by Paul Feig who will direct, this is set to be another knock-out. You only have to look at Feig’s CV to know that he doesn’t put out bad films… like, at all.
There has been no talk of a plot for the sequel yet, only that it is going ahead.
What is A Simple Favor about?
A Simple Favor follows a single, widowed mother, Stephanie Smothers, who has a small vlog channel. She befriends Emily Nelson, a secretive upper-class lady, at the school gates, when their sons become friends. When Emily goes missing, Stephanie takes things into her own hands and sets about trying to uncover the truth behind the disapperance. However, like most good films, she encounters secrets much deeper and darker than she ever expected.
Who stars in it?
The two strong main characters in this blockbuster are played by Hollywood titans Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect) and Blake Lively (Gossip Girl).
Other notable cast memebrs are Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians), Linda Cardellini (Dead To Me), Jean Smart (Mare of Easttown) and Dustin Milligan (Schitts Creek).
Audience reviews
A Simple Favor raked in a cool 97.6 million dollars at the box office in 2018. The film has an 84% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and has garnered a fierce fanbase.
