Bridgerton season 2 may just have dropped on Netflix, but what we all want to know is will it come back for seasons 3 and 4 and will fans’ new favourite couple return?

Fans have known from early last year Netflix and Shondland had confirmed the hit series would be returning for further seasons, however Hollywood Reporter has confirmed the star couple of the seasons would be back.

What We Know About Season 3 And 4

While the show was still in production for season 2 Netflix was handed a renewal for the period drama from executive producer Shonda Rhimes.

Bridgerton swept us off our feet. The creative team, led by Shonda, knew the material and delivered a beautiful, emotional, romantic drama for our members.

‘They have some exciting plans for the future, and we think audiences will continue to swoon for this show. We’re planning to be in the Bridgerton business for a long time to come,’ said Bela Bajaria, vp global TV at Netflix, in a statement.

Each season is based on Julia Quinn’s best-selling novels – the first based on The Duke and I and revolving around the oldest Bridgerton daughter, Daphne, and the second on The Viscount Who Loved Me, focused around the oldest Bridgerton, Anthony – however, it’s unclear which of the Bridgerton siblings or novels these seasons will be based on. Though, many have their bets on Colin Bridgerton will be at the heart of season 3.

Shonda Rhimes did confirm the show will dive into the romantic entanglements of each sibling, but they will not be shared in the same order as Quinn’s books, when speaking to Entertainment Tonight.

Who will return for season 3?

After the sheer devastation of Regé-Jean Page not returning of season 2 fans have been holding out at least the star couple of the season, Viscount Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma, would be returning – and, according to The Hollywood Reporter (THR), it doesn’t look like they’ll be disappointed.

Simone Ashley, who plays Kate, confirmed her return when she told the publication: ‘She’s going to be Viscountess, so I’m super-excited to continue the story.’

Johnathan Bailey, who play Anthony, confirmed his return by adding the couple would have a few complications as their marriage goes on.

He told THR: ‘But there’s going to be complication [ahead]. They’re not simple people. I know they will work as a unit, and I know he’ll be completely devoted to her, so I’m excited to see that and to explore [that].

‘In the book and source material, there’s so much about her past and his past, so seeing maybe perhaps conversations where they acknowledge that further, and they have a really rich connection, just exploring that a bit further will be great. The payoff of the slow burn I think will continue for the years to come.’
