The role of Francesca Bridgerton has been recast for season 3 of the hit Netflix and Shondaland show and here’s all we know.
It was announced by Deadline the role of the elusive sibling has been taken over Hannah Dodd for season three of Bridgerton after Ruby Stokes had to leave the role.
Francesca is recast
Lady Violet’s third daughter and sixth oldest child has been an elusive character throughout both seasons of the show. In season one she made an appearance towards the end after spending time with her aunt in Bath and in season two it looked like fans of the character were going to have more luck as she appeared at the beginning. But three episodes in she was gone again.
This was because 21-year-old Stokes who played the role had other filming commitments starring in another Netflix show, Lockwood & Co.
Bridgerton creator and Seasons one and two showrunner Chris Van Dusen told TVLine in late March: ‘I love Francesca, but we lost her midway through Season two. After exhausting all other options, she unfortunately had to come out due to reasons beyond our control.’
Now it has been confirmed Dodd will take over the role of the Bridgerton sibling for the forseeable.
Who is Hannah Dodd?
Fans of another Netflix hit, Anatomy of a Scandal, will be familiar with the 26-year-old actor. In the show Dodd plays the role of Sophie, whose earlier university years at Oxford are revisited through flashbacks, which lead her to question the start of her relationship with her husband James and her friendship with Holly Berry.
However, Dodd has been on the scene a long time before taking off on the streaming site as previously she has had roles starring in Find Me In Paris, Fighting With My Family and Harlots.
She’s also worked as a model after landing her first big campaign with Burberry starring alongside Romeo Beckham.
