Bathroom Essentials You Need To Pack When Moving Into Halls

Moving into your university halls can be daunting, and it can be hard to know what to pack especially when you have never done anything like it before.

Don’t panic! We’ve put together a list of items you need to remember to pack for your university bathroom so you don’t forget to pack something important. Let’s take a look.

Toilet roll

This might seem self-explanatory, but many people actually forget to bring toilet paper with them when they move in. Instead they think they can just get it as part of their first food shop. However, you have to remember that moving in doesn’t take ten minutes and, after a long journey to your halls, and a few hours of unpacking, you are likely to need the toilet. Bring some rolls with all your stuff so that you, and your flat mates, aren’t stuck without it on the first day.

Shower caddy

This is super useful, as you are likely to be sharing a bathroom with multiple people. Due to space, it isn’t always possible to leave all your toiletries in the shared shower or bathroom, which means you will need to bring everything in with you every time you have a wash. Get yourself a little shower caddy to put your shampoo, conditioner, face wash, shower cap, and razor in so you can just grab it on your way to the shower.

Flip flops/slides

Communal showers are not the most hygienic of places. Unless you live with uber-clean people (which, let’s be real, is unlikely to be the case in a flat of first year uni students), your bathroom is going to get a little gross from time to time. Having some form of shower shoes (flip flops or slides) will be your saviour. It also saves you from cleaning yourself in the shower then walking back along a dirty hallway to your room bare foot.

Bulk toiletries

A great way to save money at university is buying your toiletries in bulk. It can often be cheaper to buy shampoo and conditioner in large bottles, and it is also convenient as it saves you having to run to the shop to buy more hair products as often.

Hand towels

Similarly to the toilet roll, people often forget that hand towels are a necessity at university. If you have an en suite, you will definitely need to get your own. Even if you are in a shared bathroom, it’s a great idea to bring at least one or two towels. With an entire flat using the hand towels, they are going to get dirty easily, so it’s always smart to have a back-up supply while the others are in the wash. Another thing to remember in the same vein is a shower/bath mat.
