Who doesn’t love to learn about new mythology? And what better way to learn about new myths than through books. Because wanting to learn about mythology means an excuse to buy more books and who doesn’t love books.

You might be thinking: books about mythology is just Percy Jackson isn’t it? And whilst of course we will include Percy Jackson in our books about mythology. However, the point of this article is to introduce you to new books and new authors that you might not know about.

Books by Rick Riordan

Of course this article on mythology books wouldn’t be complete if we left out Rick Riordan. Not only is Rick Riordan the author of the Percy Jackson series which are focused on Greek mythology but he has more books that really deserve to be mentioned.

Whilst Greek mythology is great, learning about new mythology stories is even more exciting. Indeed, the Kane Chronicles, follows new characters in a new universe, in a whole new world. If Egyptian mythology is what you love than the Kane Chronicles is a great starting point into Egyptian mythology.

But Rick Riordan doesn’t stop at Roman, Egyptian or Greek mythology. Through the Magnus Chase and the God of Asgard books, Riordan introduces his readers to Norse mythology and it is so interesting and great to learn more about.

Books by Madeline Miller

Madeline Miller’s books are also two that deserve a section of their own. Both on Greek mythology, Circe and The Song of Achilles are very popular books. Circe has it all: complex heroines, adventure, bloodshed, betrayal, magic, and monsters.

The Song of Achilles is a beautiful love story between Achilles and Patroclus, where the Trojan War tests them beyond belief. Safe to say that readers love it.

Daughter of the Moon Goddess by Sue Lynn Tan

Mythology is beautiful in all its forms. Chinese mythology is incredible and weaved in to a beautiful like Daughter of the Moon Goddess makes it incredible. The book, and duology to be, is inspired by the legend of Chang’e, the Chinese moon goddess, features adventures of immortals and magic.

Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

Don’t get me wrong: Greek mythology is beautiful, so deep and there is always something new to learn about it. However, learning about new mythologies is just as beautiful. God of Jade and Shadow is inspired by Mayan/Mexican folklore.
