Best Comedy Podcasts Students Should Be Listening To

Molly Raby March 4, 2023

Podcasts are very ‘in’ right now. They are the perfect thing to occupy your mind when on the work commute, walking the dog, doing the dishes or just as background noise. There are a whole range of podcasts for your every need. Political, CSI, science discoveries, film reviews and so much more. Sometimes you just want some passive, funny listening that requires little brain power. So, here are some of the best comedy podcasts available wherever you listen to your podcasts.

How Did This Get Made?

This podcast follows its name by getting you to ask just that. June Diane Raphael, Jason Mantzoukas and Paul Scheer sit down each week to watch and discuss awful films with even worse audience reviews.

The trio are great at poking fun at the obvious plot holes, unfunny jokes and terrible camera angles. They do this all while giving us belly laughs and, quite possibly, convincing us that the films are so bad that they have come back around to being…good.

My Dad Wrote A Porno

The funniest part of this podcast is the whole premise. Imagine finding out that your father once wrote a whole erotic novel. Well, this was the reality for Jamie Morton. However, instead of burning it, as we may do, he made it into an amazing podcast, loved by millions. This is, quite frankly, one of the best comedy podcasts on the planet.

Each week Morton, along with his friends Alice Levine and James Cooper, reads a new chapter of his father’s novel, titled “Belinda Blinked”. The episodes are filled with awkward laughs and jokes that would make you glad you’re not listening to this with your mum.

SmartLess

SmartLess is hosted by three massive TV and film names: Sean Hayes, Jason Bateman and Will Arnott. So, it is no surprise that the guests they get on the podcast are also A-listers that we love to hear from.

This podcasts angle is that each week, one of the three hosts will bring out a mystery guest whom the other two must then interview. Whether they know this persons work or not, the trio always manage a great, hilarious conversation that ultimately leads to random stories about the guests life.

Sh**ged Married Annoyed

This podcast sees married couple Chris and Rosie Ramsey chat about all things domestic life from children to relationships, who’s turn it is to do the dishes and all the funny things that come with life. Listeners also write in with their relationships problems and detail all the weird and wonderful things that their partner does, all for the hosts to pass judgement on, of course.

Sh**ged Married Annoyed is an award-winning podcast that has millions of listeners. The podcast is so popular now that the duo are on a UK tour of the show.
