Some may say that the ‘golden age’ of film was in the 30s or 40s, but no! The real classic films were made in the early 2000s, specifically on Disney Channel.

People who grew up watching Hilary Duff, Selena Gomez, Zac Efron; you guys know what we’re talking about!

They don’t make films like those anymore. So let’s stroll down memory lane and relive those glory days.

Camp Rock

Camp Rock shook the world up in 2008. With Demi Lovato and the Jonas Brothers at the helm, this movie was set for success.

Mitchie (Lovato) attends Camp Rock, a musical camp where all the most talented kids go. Feeling out of place because she couldn’t afford to be there without her mum working in the camp kitchen, Mitchie makes up lies about her family to seem richer.

When all is revealed, she stands to lose everything, including the boy she loves.

If you rewatch this movie, there are a few odd plotlines and scenes, but that makes it all the more nostalgic. Just watch along and sing your heart out.

Teen Beach Movie

Teen Beach Movie seemingly came out of nowhere, but we are so glad it did!

Brady (Ross Lynch) and McKenzie (Maia Mitchell) are thrust into West Side Story after surfing near a magical beach hut… you couldn’t write it.

Through musical battles and a some breaking of the fourth wall in ‘Can’t Stop Singing’, the duo fall for each other and have to find a way to get home.

It is an all-singing, all-dancing Disney Channel fest that gives you all the early noughties vibes you need.

The Cheetah Girls

This movie follows four friends in a girl group named ’the Cheetah Girls’ as they try to make it big. Their lives pull them apart from each other, but one big crisis brings them back together. After all, what is stronger than friendship?

It was (and still is) a classic Disney Channel original movie and, while it may not have had the same cultural influence as High School Musical, it still held its own.

Princess Protection Program

This isn’t a musical like the previous movies, but it stands strong all the same.

Princess Rosalinda Fioré, portrayed by Demi Lovato, is set to be crowned queen of the small nation, Costa Luna. When the General invades and takes the Princess’s mother hostage, she must flee the country.

Luckily, Major Mason is around and he works for the P.P.P, Princess Protection Program, and he brings her to a small town in Louisiana. With the reluctant help of Carter Mason (Selena Gomez), Princess Roaslinda tries to fit into ’normal’ life.

Princess Protection Program is your classic teen film, filled with rude teen bullies, bad haircuts, weekend jobs and, of course, prom king and queen.
