Ice skating is one of the most popular festive favourites for the upcoming season. However, in certain places it can be extremely expensive for this activity. Here are the best places for students to enjoy ice skating in London.
Operating on a budget shouldn’t mean you automatically miss out and there are certain deals that involve student nights, and certain locations that offer a reduced rate.
The three locations listed below are some of the best places for students to go ice skating around London.
Even if they’re slightly more on the expensive side, their location and decorative features really do make this an evening or day activity that you will not want to miss out on.

Canary Wharf
This ice rink is open now! It is one of the most urban of the ice-skating rinks and extremely enjoyable for all.
This has a bar surrounding the rink which means that you can really make a night of it.
Due to the glass and see-through ceiling, you can ice skate while looking around the enormous buildings with the City of London surrounding you. This makes for a truly majestic evening of skating.
Somerset House Ice Rink
This has to be one of my personal favourite ice rinks. This is due to the huge beauty of Somerset House engulfing the ice rink below.
This is quite a simple and non-extravagant ice rink as it is just one rectangle. However, there are DJ soundtracks playing as you look up and gaze at the stars while you skate.
This rink opens on 16 November and will be running until the middle of January. This means that, if the lead up to Christmas is a little too busy, you can still have the enjoyment of going in the new year.
Skylight London Ice Rink
If rooftop bars are your go-to location for a cocktail, then the Skylight London ice rink will definitely be up your street.
This is found on the rooftop of Tobacco Dock and you can skate along as you gaze at the beautiful views of London and the Riverbank.
Surrounding this ice rink are ski lodge themed bars where you can grab some tasty food and a hot drink.
If you and your friends really want a treat then go inside one of the cosy igloos that this location provides and have some warming cocktails all together.
This is also an ice skating rink that is currently open and runs into the new year.
