Best Places To Study If You’re Bored Of Your Bedroom

Most student rooms come with a desk, which is great for rolling out of bed and onto your desk chair to study. But when the four walls of your bedroom become the only walls you see, it can become boring and unmotivating. Are you finding it harder to concentrate while studying in your room recently? Well, here are some of the best places to study outside of your bedroom!

A library

One of the most common places students go to study is the library. The library at your university will be filled with students just like you, especially around exam season. This may promote your motivation and concentration to be surrounded by other focused people.

Besides this, libraries – especially university libraries – are filled with hundreds of thousands of books you could use for your studies. You might even be able to find the essential books on your reading list to help you achieve those better grades in your assignments!

Libraries come equipped with plenty of desk space, computers, plug sockets, and printers. They’re one of the best solutions for your bedroom revision boredom.

A green space

Studying in nature has been suggested to increase your memory of your revision, since visualising the setting you were in when learning the information can help you to recall it during exams. Furthermore, nature can help you relax, and fresh air and sun will help you feel revitalised. If you’re feeling cooped up from being inside for too long, studying outside might help you.

Somewhere with grass and lots of trees, like a local park, is an example of a good green space to study in! The only problem is there aren’t any plug sockets in nature, so if you’re revising from an electronic device, make sure it’s fully charged before you go!

By the sea

Another calming outdoor area to study is the beach. If you’re able travel to a beach, or if you live in a place that has its own one, this could be a good study option. Taking a blanket or a towel might be good to make it more comfortable, especially if it’s a rocky beach.

Obviously there aren’t any plug sockets at the beach, so charge up those devices before you go. Also, beaches can get very busy in sunny weather, so if this doesn’t appeal to you, the beach may not be the best option.

A coffee shop

If coffee is your best friend for revision, a cafe might be the revision space for you. Some places, like Wetherspoons, do free refills on hot drinks to keep you hydrated and awake during your studying time. Many coffee shops also serve sandwiches and sweet treats. It’s important to keeping your brain energised with nutrition, so you could factor in a meal while you’re there, too.

On your commute

If you need to make a journey in the middle of revision reason, studying on the move could be helpful to make sure you get some done. For example, studying on a train or a coach can be useful to eliminate distractions. You have to sit and wait to get to your destination either way. You may as well bash out some work in the meantime, right? Even better if it’s a longer journey!

Some trains have plug sockets and tables, but not all, so take that into account if you are planning on studying on the go. Also, public transport can get busy and loud, so it may not always be ideal.

A friend’s house

Going to a friend’s house to study is a simple solution, as it means you get the change of scenery you need while also having some company. Of course, this means you should try to keep the distracting conversations to a minimum. If you’re someone who likes to chat with your friends when you’re supposed to be studying, this suggestion may be more of a hindrance than a help!

It can help to form a study group, as some people like being able to revise with other people going over the same content. If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, look into forming a study group with people from your course.

The takeaway message

Bedroom boredom is real. If you find yourself getting more fed up with the work space in your bedroom, try out some other places to make sure you stay motivated and interested in your work! Happy studying.
