The Simpsons has been airing since 1989 and, since then, there have been over 720 episodes. The show stands as the longest-running American animated series, in terms of both seasons and episodes.
During these hundreds of episodes, The Simpsons has earnt a reputation of eerily predicting the future.
From international events to presidental elections, this show has somehow depicted the future on more occasions than we care to admit.
If you don’t believe us, here are some of the most unbelievable times it has happend.
The Super Bowl
The Super Bowl episode is one of the first times people really started looking into the The Simpsons as correctly predicting the future.
In the episode titled ‘Lisa the Greek’, aired in 1992, the show predicted that the Washington Redskins would win. The Super Bowl XXVI was only days later, and the show guessed correctly.
The episode was re-dubbed the following year for fun and, as predicted in the show, the Dallas Cowboys won the Super Bowl.
They finally re-dubbed the show a third time for the Super Bowl XXIX and, once again, the show correctly predicted that the San Francisco 49ers would win.
Donald Trump becomes POTUS
In season 11, episode 17 titled ‘Bart to the Future’, we see what Bart’s life would be like as he grows older.
Lisa is president and she declares, ‘As you know, we’ve inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump’.
This episode was aired in 2000, 17 years before Donald Trump would become president.
If this isn’t weird enough, the show also shows Trump entering on an elevator, waving to the crowds, which did actually occur once Trump became president.
Siegfried and Roy tiger attack
In 1993, during an episode called ‘$pringfield (Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Legalized Gambling)’, The Simpsons showed famous Las Vegas entertainers Siegfried and Roy being mauled by a white tiger.
Shockingly, in 2003, Roy Horn from the duo was attacked by one of his white tigers during a live performance. He sustained severe injuries, but survived.
Horsemeat scandal
Season five, episode 19, titled ’Sweet Seymour Skinner’s Baasasssss Song’ sees Lunchlady Doris including meat such as “assorted horse parts; now with more testicles”.
The episode aired in 1994 and, in 2013, it was discovered that a handful of British and Irish supermarkets were selling frozen beef that contained horse DNA.
