As James Corden has announced he’s going to make an exit from the Late Late Show in 2023, we look back at some of the biggest names to star on his Carpool Karaoke.

From Ed Sheeran to Lady Gaga, the 43-year-old actor, comedian and presenter, has hosted a huge range of A-listers in the passenger seat of his Carpool Karaoke – the feature on his late, late night talk show – and some have definitely been television moments not to be missed. So here’s our top five biggest stars to get Corden into the carpool lane.

Lady Gaga

The ‘Bad Romance’ singer joined Corden back in 2016. During their journey the pair gave audiences a good giggle when they started freestyle rapping about the traffic before singing along to some of Gaga’s biggest hits.

When in the car Corden even swapped places with Gaga and let her drive some of the journey – only once he’d put a helmet on for safety.

Ed Sheeran

In 2017 as Sheeran was set to make his cameo in the movie Yesterday he joined Corden for some karaoke – although, we’re not sure it can really be called that fully as the singer did bring along a guitar and play some of his own hits.

As well as his own song ‘Thinking Out Loud’ Sheeran also performed acoustic covers of Justin Bieber’s ‘Love Yourself’ and One Direction’s ‘What Makes You Beautiful’.

Adele

In 2016 the iconic Adele joined Corden in the carpool lane. The pair started off by singing some of her best hits like ‘Hello’ and ‘Someone Like You’ Adele shocks the world by rapping Nicki Minaj’s ‘Monster’ without holding back.

Adele’s Carpool Karaoke featurette has had over 250 million views on YouTube and it’s easy to see why; come on, it’s Adele.

One Direction

Long before Harry Styles had everyone waiting with bated breath for the release of his upcoming album Harry’s House, him and his former band mates joined Corden in the car. During the feature the lads – minus Zayn – belted out their biggest hits and even indulged in a choreographed dance routine, created by Corden himself.

Justin Bieber

Bieber has joined Corden, not once but, twice for Carpool Karaoke. In 2015, during Bieber’s first experience with Corden, the star kicked off by singing his debut hit ‘Baby’. But in 2020 fans were treated with seeing and older, wiser, and much more talented singer to blast out some of his newer hits.

Bonus: Sir Paul McCartney

Sir Paul may not be at the forefront of modern music, but his time on Carpool Karaoke in 2018 is a day Corden will ‘never, ever forget’. Of course the pair sang along to the iconic Beatles song ‘Baby, You Can Drive My Car’ and his last big hit with his former band ‘Let It Be’.

In an interview with Bill Whittaker of 60 Minutes, Corden was asked what his favourite Carpool Karaoke was, to which he responded: ‘Well, there’s so many. I mean, doing it with Paul McCartney will probably take some beating from me personally. It was just a day I’ll never, ever forget.’
