The Glastonbury 2022 line up is here and it looks awesome as Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, Sir Paul McCartney and Wolf Alice are all set to play.
After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic the iconic festival is back and today, Friday March 4, 80 acts have been added to the line-up, alongside previously-announced headliner Billie Eilish.
Organisers made the announcement on social media confirming the line-up of the final two headliners.
Olivia Rodrigo, Sam Fender, Foals, Diana Ross and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds have all been billed to perform over the course of the event from Wednesday June 22 to Sunday June 26.
Billie Eilish is set to be the youngest headliner in history at only 20-years-old – while the former Beatle, Sir Paul McCartney will be headlining, on Saturday June 25, just one week after he turns 80-years-old.
The young ‘Bad Guy’ singer will also be the first female headliner since 2016 – however, Taylor Swift was originally booked to headline the event in 2020, before it was cancelled, and has confirmed she will not be playing the event this year.
Sir Paul last performed at Glasto back in 2004 and he was also due to headline in 2020 – so his appearance at Worthy Farm in Somerset is widely overdue.
The Glasto organiser, Emily Eavis told the BBC: “When he finally confirmed, we were beyond [excited].
“For us, having Paul McCartney is obviously a dream, a huge moment in our history. It means the world getting Paul McCartney to Glastonbury.”
Kendrick Lamar will also be headlining the famous Pyramid Stage to close the festival on Sunday June 26.
Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion, Phoebe Bridgers, TLC, Wet Leg and jazz icon Herbie Hancock, will all be making their debut performances at the festival alongside the other returning artists.
More additional acts are likely to be announce in coming months but it seems there’ll be plenty to enjoy as it returns for the first time since 2019.
