Books You Will Want To Read Again For The First Time

Add as preferred source on Google

Have you ever finished a book and began to wish you could forget it? Just to experience reading it for the first time again? It’s more common than you think. Maybe it was that plot twist that you didn’t see coming. Perhaps it was the moment your two favourite characters realised they were in love. Or it could be the moment the murderer finally gets caught. Whatever it is, it’s likely that these books will have you wishing you could read them all over again.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

There is so much about this book that gives it its place on this list. There are so many plot twists in this book that will leave you either crying or in a state of shock. It’s one of the few books that managed to evoke real tears from me. It’s a LGBTQ+ read too and is insightful into how Hollywood treated the LGBTQ+ community.

The book is dazzling, and I wish I could forget everything that happened in it just so I can read it again for the first time. It has an exquisite character list, there will be people you love and people you despise. There is magic in the way that the book is told, and in how it will make you feel.

Bridget Jones’ Diary by Helen Fielding

Admittedly, I’d seen the films before I’d read the book. But this might be a rare case in which the book and the film are equally as good as each other. Bridget Jones is a modern-day spinster who keeps a diary. She talks about her (hilarious) love life, her job, her parents, and her friends. She lives in London, so it’s a great read if you enjoy a book set in the big city.

The reason this book is on the list is because it is hilarious. I laughed audibly reading it, even when I already knew what was coming. It’s a feel-good read and bound to get anyone out of a slump!

Pachinko by Min Jin Lee

This is certainly the lengthiest book on this list, but nonetheless, it belongs here. Pachinko is a saga, and it spans just over 100 years. It details the lives of a Korean family living in Japan against all odds. It’s uplifting, promising, heart-breaking, and devastating. All at the same time.

There are no major plot twists in this novel, but there are moments that will leave you so shocked that you wish you could experience it again. It’s a book that can be read in any season and will be a favourite of yours for eternity if you read it.

The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

An aesthetically beautiful book based on Greek mythology. It has LGBTQ+ romance, the Trojan war and astrology. It’s a moving book and, while completely heart-breaking, you’ll wish you could read it all once again for the first time.

There are so many books that could be on this list, and that’s the beauty of reading. If you could forget a book just to experience it again for the first time, what would it be?
