There’s an open call for Kingston University School of Art students to submit their work to Not My Beautiful House exhibit to celebrate the gallery’s birthday.
Not My Beautiful House is a community led shop and art gallery in the heart of Kingston’s town centre and now people can apply to sell their work, host exhibitions, or even test out a business idea.
A Birthday Celebration
In order to celebrate the company’s first birthday they are offering artists the opportunity to submit their artwork for consideration, resulting in a group exhibition of short-listed artists in the gallery space in Kingston from May 6 to 20.
As the country was beginning to reopen from its third lockdown Union of Kingston Students began crowdfunding for a community led creative hub in Kingston, in partnership with Studio KT1, Kingston School of Art’s creative agency.
Eventually the group gained had support from the Mayor of London and Royal Borough of Kingston Council and raised £70,000 and opened the space.
Work on display
To be in with a chance to have their work exhibited artists much send a short biography, an artist statement and images of their work via the submission form, by 9am on April 19.
If they successful, the artists’ pieces will be hung up and offered for sale in the shop. Eighty percent of the sale goes to the artist and twenty percent going to Not My Beautiful House. The winner will also be invited to the exhibition opening on May 6 and 7, for the birthday celebrations.
Up to 50 pieces of work will be chosen to be put on for display. A perfect opportunity to have your artwork out for the public to see.
