It’s often said that dating an actor is awful as you have to watch them fall in love with other people all the time. But, the best way to get around that is to act next to them.
From ‘Brangelina’ meeting on set, to John Krasinski even directing his wife, here are some of our favourite Hollywood couples who starred alongside each other on the big screen.
Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone in ‘Bridesmaids’ (2011)
Melissa is a comedy legend and so, it seems is her husband. If you look back at your favourite Melissa McCarthy films, chances are Ben Falcone makes a cameo. One of McCarthy’s best roles as Megan in Bridesmaids and Falcone can be seen playing an air marshal alongside her on the iconic plane scene.
Falcone has directed several staple McCarthy films such as Tammy (2014) and The Boss (2016) which he makes cameo appearances in.
The couple can also be seen acting next to each other in the recently released comedy series written by Falcone, God’s Favorite Idiot.
Emily Blunt and John Krasinski in ‘A Quiet Place’ (2018)
Both Emily Blunt and John Krasinski are brilliant actors in their own right and in 2015 the couple paired up to act in A Quiet Place together and again in the 2020 sequel.
Not only did the couple star together, but Krasinski directed both films. In an interview with E! News, Krasinski said, ‘I would rather act with Emily than direct. I don’t know if I need that responsibility. She’s so good and I’d be so scared to screw it up. But happy to be in scenes with her because that would be really fun. We’re always up for doing something, it just gotta be the right thing.’
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt in ‘By The Sea’ (2015)
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie met on the set of Mr and Mrs Smith (2005). This is where the couple fell for each other and arguably stands as the beginning of the end of Pitt’s relationship with fellow actor Jennifer Aniston.
After getting married in 2014 Brangelina then went on to star in By The Sea (2015) together.
The couple announced their divorce the following year.
Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise in ‘Days of Thunder’ (1990)
Nicole Kidman and Tome Cruise were married in 1990 – following Cruise’s divorce from his first wife Mimi Rogers – and starred in Days of Thunder together the same year. These two were arguably the biggest, most high-profile couple of the 90’s.
The duo also went on to star in two other films together: Far and Away (1992) and Eyes Wide Shut (1999).
The couple divorced in 2001. Kidman went on to marry Keith Urban in 2006 and Cruise went on to marry Katie Holmes – although, the latter eventually divorced in 2012.
Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard in ‘CHIPS’ (2017)
Frozen’s Kristen Bell married fellow actor Dax Shepard in 2013. This beloved couple starred in CHIPS in 2017, written and directed by Shepard. They also starred together in the 2012 film Hit and Run, which is another one of Shepard’s own films.
This couple make a great duo both on and off-screen. They have been transparent about the stuggles and hilarity that ensues with marriage and having children.
