After years of waiting Channel 4 has finally dropped the trailer for Derry Girls season 3 and it looks hilarious.
Channel 4 has unveiled the first image and trailer for the show, which garnered global popularity via Netflix, which was created and written by Lisa McGee.
What is Derry Girls
The season 3 trailer – which fittingly aired on St Patrick’s Day on social media – shows the girls get up all sorts of antics as they prep for GCSE exams at their religious Catholic school.
Derry Girls follows the story of Erin (Saoirse-Monica Jackson), her cousin Orla (Louisa Harland) and friends Clare (Nicola Coughlan), Michelle (Jamie-Lee O’Donnell) and Michelle’s tag along English cousin, aka ‘The Wee English Fella’, James (Dylan Llewellyn) as they navigate teenage life in Derry/Londonderry in the 1990s – with the backdrop of ‘The Troubles’.
The series also stars Tommy Tiernan as Erin’s long-suffering father Gerry, Tara Lynne O’Neill as Erin’s mother Mary, Ian McElhinney as Granda Joe, Kathy Kiera Clarke as Aunt Sarah and Siobhan McSweeney as Sister Michael, the straight-talking Headmistress of Lady Immaculate College, where the group attend.
Lisa McGee, writer of Derry Girls, said: ‘I love writing this show and I’m so thrilled to be able to continue the Derry Girls story, thank you Channel 4, Erin and the eejits live to fight another day.’

Fans are absolutely loving the trailer with one saying it left them doing ‘cartwheels’ and another was ‘howling’ at the clip.
