Coldplay kicked off their spectacular six-night London residency on August 12 at the prestigious Wembley Stadium featuring special guest Craig David.
After a hiatus from touring, Coldplay are back at Wembley they are not messing around. The band made a promise they would only tour again if they found a way to make it more sustainable.
Instead of making a flashy entrance like other artists, the group played a video on how ticket sales from the Music Of The Spheres Tour are helping to fund ocean clean-ups and provide more clean and renewable energy.
Coldplay’s Wembley Spectacular
The band opened with the electric ‘Higher Power’, from their most recent album which shares the name of the tour. Goosebumps spread over my body as the famous Coldplay wristbands got to work, lighting up the stadium in a sea of colours.
Giant, colourful beach balls were thrown into the crowd during the second song, ‘Adventure Of A Lifetime’, which remained bouncing on the floor for a majority of the show.
Coldplay combined a setlist to please everybody. From old favourites such as ‘Sparks’, ‘In My Place’ and ‘Politik’, to newer, well-loved songs such as ‘Hymn For The Weekend’, ‘Paradise’ and ‘Charlie Brown’. A highlight of the night for me was ‘Viva La Vida’. – the song is electric and the chanting is out of this world. It needs to be seen live by everybody at some point.
The group began ripping into their 2014 single ‘A Sky Full Of Stars’ before stopping shortly before the chorus. Before restarting, frontman Chris Martin asked everybody in the stadium to put down their phones. ‘This will be available to watch on YouTube, live in the moment!’, he told the crowd.

Heading over to the C stage, Chris Martin began to speak of the career beginnings of Coldplay. He spoke about how they were forever jealous of one act and how he would always chart higher than them, but instead of being bitter, he embraced it.
The crowd were slightly confused until Craig David took to the stage. Together, they sang David’s 2001 hit ‘Fill Me In’.
Fireworks, confetti and pyro were a huge part of the show, which added to the visual elements that Coldplay are known for.
At one point during the concert, Martin made show goers make a wish for people struggling in the world, such as people in Ukraine. As the frontman urged people to think of their wish, he counted down from five. On one, a fantastic display of fireworks took to the sky.
The band closed their spectacular 2 hour gig with their 2021 psychedelic song ‘Biutyful’, complete with hypnotic scenery and insane energy.
Seeing Coldplay live is definitely a bucket list experience and a once-in-a-lifetime moment. The visuals transport you to another world and the atmosphere is something that words simply cannot explain.
