Star of the upcoming Netflix movie Darlings, Alia Bhatt, said she had an ‘amazing’ time filming with Gal Gadot in her first English movie.
Alia stars in, and co-produces, the movie Darlings which makes its global premiere on August 5 on the streaming site, but this is just the start of a busy year for her as she’s also just finished filming her first English movie.

As well as making her producing debut Alia stars as Badru, a victim of domestic abuse from a volatile alcoholic husband, Hamza. However, when Hamza allows his rage to go too far Badru and her mother decide to take things into their own hands and get revenge.
The movie is set against the backdrop of a conservative lower-middle-class neighbourhood in Mumbai and explored the lives of the mother-daughter duo and their relationship as they navigate through the dark comedy, without being ‘insensitive’ Alia told Variety.
She said: ‘The minute you’re aware that you’re walking a very thin line, it’s a very tight rope into being insensitive. We’re not ever making fun of the subject — and anything around the subject of domestic violence, or domestic abuse, is not taken lightly.
‘It’s the characters that are very light and quirky who think that they have everything in control, but actually have nothing in control. So that is where the humour really comes in. It’s more like a comedy of errors.’

In the interview, Alia also talked about her experience working with the Justice League star Gal Gadot and Fifty Shades franchise actor Jamie Dornan, calling it ‘amazing’.
Alia described the movie Heart of Stone, which has just finished wrapping up, as her ‘first Hollywood big English picture’.
‘It was my first Hollywood big English picture experience and I had quite a task at hand because I was shooting for the first time an action movie,’ Alia said.
‘But I’m also pregnant so there were so many layers for me to deal with. But they made it so seamless and so easy and so comfortable for me. It’s something that I will never forget because of how beautifully and how well I was treated.’
She added she can’t ‘wait for the world to see’ the movie which currently has all its plot details being kept tightly under wraps.
‘I had such a lovely time shooting with Gal [Gadot], with Jamie Dornan and with my director Tom Harper. I think we’re onto something pretty cool with Heart of Stone and I can’t wait for the world to see it,’ said Alia.
