RuPaul’s Drag Race has been on the up for years and it only seems to be getting bigger. As season 15 of the original American version continues to air on Wow Presents Plus, the UK also have something to look forward to. Finally, the Haters Roast tour is coming to the UK!
What Is RuPaul’s Drag Race?
RuPaul’s Drag Race is a reality TV competition that sees between 10 and 14 drag queens compete to win the title of ‘Next Drag Superstar’. The show first aired in 2009 and has had at least one season each year ever since.
The original American season is now on its fifteenth instalment, with RuPaul, Michelle Visage and Ross Matthew as resident judges. Due to the show’s success, there are now several spin off versions of the show. This includes a range of series with drag queens from the UK, Australia, Holland, Italy, Thailand and Philippines. The Canadian version is hosted by season 11 runner-up Brooke Lynn Hytes.
When the show began, the total prize money stood at $20,000. By season five, the prize money was up to $100,000, until season 14 when the money rose to $150,000. The most recent series has the highest total prize money ever offered, with $200,000 on the line.

For the first time in the show’s history, the tour is coming to the UK, hosted by the winner of season one of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, The Vivienne. The tour will make 12 stops between 28 March – 9 April, including Glasgow, Manchester, Edinburgh, Oxford and closing out in Birmingham.
