England’s European Championship Journey So Far

The 2022 Euros began on 6 July and will finish on 31 July. The championship consists of 16 nations, including the hosts, England.

This is the 13th edition of the Euros Women’s Championship. These games were originally scheduled for July to August of 2021. However, following the COVID-19 pandemic, they have been postponed until now.

Group Stages

England were placed in Group A alongside Austria, Norway and Northern Ireland.

After the group stages, both England and Austria have advanced to the knockout stages.

England won all three matches, accumulating nine points and a 14-point goal-difference. Austria won two matches and lost one, to finish with a total of six points.

Future Matches

England’s next match is part of the knockout stages, against Spain. This match will take place on 20 July at Falmer Stadium, Brighton and Hove.

The final is set to take place at Wembley Stadium on 31 July.

Best Goalscorers

During these Euros, Beth Mead has been England’s best goalscorer. She currently has five goals from three matches.

Despite only scoring two goals so far, Ellen White is England’s highest goal-scorer overall. She broke Kelly Smith’s long-standing record after she scored a hat-trick against Latvia in November 2021.
