Festivals are one of the highlights of summertime. It’s a great way to get out of the city, unwind, and meet new people while enjoying live music. However, if it’s your first time at a festival, or if it’s been a while, you may be unsure of what to pack. It can be hard to decide what to bring. On the one hand, you don’t want to forget anything important. On the other hand, you don’t want to bring so many items that you’re weighed down and it’s a hassle lugging them with you. While there is no ‘right’ list of things to pack, here are some essential items to pack for festivals this summer that will come in handy.

Sturdy Boots
There’s always a chance of rain, so sandals or trainers alone are not going to cut it. Bring a pair of rain or work boots with you to help protect your feet and your clothing from the damp and the mud. After all, there’s nothing worse than trying to sleep with cold feet.
A Waterproof Bag
Likewise, in the event of rain, you don’t want your electronics or other water-sensitive items to be in jeopardy. Investing in at least one good quality waterproof bag will help keep your mind at ease, and provide you a safe place to store items that can’t get wet.
Hand Sanitizer
Let’s face it — toilet facilities at festivals aren’t always the most sanitary. Even if they start out fine, they can become messy within a few days. So, it’s a good idea to have hand sanitizer with you to keep your hands germ-free.
Refillable Water Bottle
It’s important to stay hydrated at a festival. However, you likely won’t want to have to buy bottled water. Instead, bring along a refillable water bottle that you can fill at the festival’s station. If you want to decrease the weight of your pack, you can always bring the bottle in empty and fill it once you get there.
Portable Charger
Unless you’ve booked ‘glamping’ accomodation, you likely won’t have access to a charging point for your phone. Your group will want to have at least one phone charged just in case you need to contact anybody. So, bring along a portable charger and charging cable just in case.
