When Netflix bought Call My Agent (Dix Pour Cent in the original version), they probably had no idea that it would become the international success it is. If you have not had a chance to watch it yet, here is a quick rundown.
Call My Agent follows the daily challenges of four agents in a Parisian agency, ASK. Across the show they work with different actors, playing themselves, from Cecile de France to Monica Belluci to Juliette Binoche.
The Brits loved it so much that they wanted one of their own. With the show coming out on April 28 on Prime Video, in the UK, here is everything you need to know.
What is it like?
Ten Percent (like its French counterpart), follows a London talent agency called Nightingale Hart. It has been revealed that the remake will keep a rather similar plot to the original. Four agents are trying to manage their hectic lives and their agents. One day the agency is struck by tragedy. On top of juggling their own personal lives, the four agents have to handle the tantrums of their talents.
We can expect to see major celebrities making cameos throughout the show. After all, this was part of the appeal of the original show. Real actors playing themselves. Everyone loved it.
The trailer teased Helena Bonham Carter, Phoebe Dyvenor, Emma Corrin, Himesh Patel and Kelly Macdonald among others. The list is likely to be rather long. After all, everyone wants a piece of the show.
One thing that separates it from its French counterpart is the topics dealt with during the show. Indeed, it adds some Britishness to the French show, dealing with London’s class inequality as well as ‘transatlantic industry relationships.’
Who plays the iconic characters?
Camille Cotin brought life to the character of Andréa Martel. But this time it is Lydia Leonard who plays Alexa. Cotin was fantastic as Andréa, we can only hope that Leonard brings the character to life the same way.
Jack Davenport is leaving Pirates of the Caribbean behind to star as Jonathan. The character is based on Matthias Barneville, played by Thibault de Montalembert. Actress Maggie Steed will be bringing alive the role of Stella, while Prasanna Puwanarajah plays Dan.
Joining the ranks are Harry Trevaldwyn as Ollie and Hiftu Quasem in the role of Misha. If you have watched the original show, you will know of all the laughs we are excited to have again.
What are fans hoping for?
Many fans of the original version seem to be expecting similar laughs.
One of the things that came up a lot was the fact that some people were hoping to see some of the French cast make a cameo. What if they had to go to London for a business trip? We can only wait and see. Whatever will happen, it will give people good laughs. The trailer certainly did.
In the comments for the trailer it seems as if the majority of people are excited to see what is in store. And good news (UK fans) if you are one of those people. All the episodes of the show are now available to watch on Prime video. If you are in the US it is coming to Sundance Now on April 29.
