It has been three years since we were first introduced to the world of Dead To Me and, let’s be honest, we’ve been hooked ever since. With its dark twist, genuine female connections and laughs at every corner, it’s no shock that this show has been a fan favourite from the off.
What is Dead To Me?
Dead To Me is a dark comedy that sees a grieving widow, Jen, and an optimistic (to a fault) free spirit, Judy meet at a support group. Their wildly different personalities make for the perfect friendship. And when dark secrets come to light, the duo try to stick together, despite the hurt that may cause.
The show has the perfect mixture of darkness and comedy, exploring the funny sides of loss, grief and forgiveness.
The show is spearheaded by writer and creator Liz Feldman, who has written on many shows such as 2 Broke Girls and The Ellen Show. With a writer as esteemed as this, it is no surprise that Dead To Me has an audience rating of 92% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The third season of the show is set to be released in the Autumn of 2022. It is confirmed that this will be the show’s final season.
*SEASON TWO SPOILERS*
The final scene of season two saw Jen and Judy being hit by a car. We found out that that car was being driven by Steve’s twin brother Ben. While Ben had been sober for some time, we see a bottle of whiskey by his side after the crash. It seems as though everyone survived the crash, but fans have been left waiting on this cliffhanger for almost two years now.
Who stars in the show?
One of the two leads in this show is played by Christina Applegate, known for playing Rachel Green’s sister, Amy, in the hit show Friends. Applegate was nominated for a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Jen in Dead To Me.The other half of this powerhouse pair is Linda Cardellini, who may be most recognisable for playing the brain box Velma in Scooby-Doo.
Other notable cast members are James Marsden (Enchanted), Sam McCarthy (18 to Party), Natalie Morales (Language Lessons), Valerie Mahaffey (National Lampoon’s Senior Trip) and Brandon Scott (Bad Match).
