Amazon Prime has brought us many outstanding original series over the years and The Wilds is another knock-out. This show is spearheaded by eight relatively unknown actresses, who grip and hold your attention throughout the series.

What is ‘The Wilds‘?

Eight teenage girls find themselves stranded on a remote island after their plane to a retreat, crashes. Unaware that they are the subjects of a social experiment and that the plane was meant to ‘crash’, the group turn to each other. But, the girls are all from drastically different backgrounds and must try to work together in order to survive.

Series one of The Wilds has 10 episodes of about 45-50 minutes each.

Who stars in ‘The Wilds‘?

The main group of girls are played by:

Sarah Pidgeon (Nowhere I’dRather Be)

Sophia Taylor Ali (Uncharted)

Helena Howard (Madeline’s Madeline)

Erana James (The Changeover)

Shannon Berry (The Gateway)

Reign Edwards (Hell Fest)

Jenna Clause (In The Beginning Was Water And Sky)

And this is Mia Healey’s first significant role.

Other cast memebrs include: Rachel Griffiths (Brothers and Sisters), Chi Nguyen (Phi and Me), David Sullivan (Flaked) and Troy Winbush (Heart Of Fire).

Series 2

*SERIES ONE SPOILERS*

Series two opens at the end of Rachel’s shark attack, which caused her to lose a hand. Nora is still missing, Martha just cut the head off a bird and Shelby and Toni are still hooking up.

As this drama continues, we become aware that another plane full of boys ‘crashed’ on a different part of the same island.

This group of boys are similar to the girls, in that they are all very different and have to try and work as a team to survive this unthinkable situation.

Reviews

The Wilds has an amazing 85% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

In Decider‘s ‘Stream It or Skip It‘ category, Jade Budowski puts The Wilds in the ‘Stream It’ category. She writes, ‘While adding the boys into the mix takes away some of the singular magic of the first season, The Wilds remains an extremely entertaining and beautifully performed series.’
