Among the most unanticipated events of 2022 is the internet’s obsession with Julia Fox. Despite being New York famous for a decade, her feature in Josh Safdie’s Uncut Gems, and prolific fling with Kanye West, has propelled her to new levels.
Even Fox has been surprised by her new-found status. Reacting to rumours of her relationship as a desire for status she said: “Honey, I’ve dated billionaires my entire adult life, let’s keep it real”.
But for whichever reason we know Fox doesn’t matter, it looks like she’s sticking around.

Public reaction to Uncut Gem’s has been favourable. Both Fox’s performance and her pronunciation of it has received a lot of audience attention. In an interview for the Call Her Daddy podcast Fox describes herself as ‘Josh Safdie’s muse’. Despite being from New York, she pronounces ‘Uncut Gems’ completely Californian. The audio turned into a viral TikTok sound, with over 11 million videos. It’s up there with the most satisfying sounds to date.
She has many talents
Fox is a woman of many talents and is no stranger to the arts. She’s a darling in fashion, photography and poetry. Not to mention writing and directing the short film ‘Fantasy Girls’. She landed her debut role in Uncut Gems without taking a single acting lesson. Fox refuses to be defined by a single category.
She’s unapologetic
Julia Fox has an otherworldly energy. She’s unapologetically herself, but she has multiple layers. Which begs the question: Do we really know who she is? Few people know she was a dominatrix in high school. And perhaps even fewer know she’s a mum. She’s a true Aquarius. An enigma to many, one step ahead, and she doesn’t care if society catches up.

Fox’s recent endeavours make us eager to know what she’ll do next. At a Vanity Fair Oscar’s party, she announced she’s releasing a book. Clearly excited, she describes the book not as a memoir- but a masterpiece. Proud of her work, she states: ‘No ghost writers here, hunny’. Personally, I will be running to Waterstones to buy this book.
