Graduating uni is overwhelming to say the least. Whether you’re experiencing it, or about to, try to relax. Of course it can be a dangerous no-man’s land filled with people who don’t know what they’re doing. But find comfort in the fact you are not alone. You aren’t the first, and you definitely won’t be the last to feel this way.

Step out of your mind for two hours and watch these films to change your perspective. Let go and embrace the uncertainty.

The Devil Wears Prada

Firstly, a film about a girl just out of uni expecting to find her dream job right away. Instead she finds herself working in a field she knows nothing about with the literal devil for a boss! She makes the most out of the situation and tries her best to excel at her job. But she discovers just how much her career affected her personal life.

The film isn’t all negative. It’s a brilliant motivator and ends with the uplifting message that hard-work actually does pay off (plus you get to enjoy the very best of 2004 fashion).

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

This classic film from the 80’s is a must watch. It follows three high school students who call in sick and decide to do what they want for the day. Accompanied by his girlfriend and best friend Cameron, Ferris enjoys the magic of Chicago. He’s a one-of-a-kind character and the complete opposite of the pessimistic Cameron.

It is a thoughtful and inspiring film that will convince you that anything is possible. As a recent graduate it will help you calm down and embrace your new found freedom.

Legally Blonde

The heartbroken Elle Woods gets into Harvard Law school to try to win her boyfriend back. However, her journey is thrown off course when she finds herself rejected by both her ex and her fellow classmates. Instead of quitting, Elle works hard and stays true to herself the entire film. She’s a loyal and encouraging friend who can teach us graduates valuable lessons (besides the bend and snap).

Elle triumphs over those who doubted her and, in the end, discover’s she’s actually a pretty good lawyer: ‘What like it’s hard?’

13 Going on 30

On her 13th birthday Jenner Rink wishes she was ‘thirty, flirty and thriving’. Waking up the next morning to find herself 30 years old she discovers it isn’t what she anticipated. Jenner has everything she could have dreamed of but finds herself dissatisfied. She discovers she’s done bad things in her life, leaving her surrounded by fake acquaintances. The only person she wants to see is her best-friend and she hasn’t spoken to him in years.

Despite the setbacks Jenner’s childlike spirit persists, which is a breath of fresh air to the adult characters who aren’t as optimistic. Entering the world of work is difficult, but we can all learn from Jenner’s attitude in this film.

Already watched them all?

Watch again! It won’t do you any harm and you’ll definitely find some useful messages in there.
