EastEnders star Tilly Cooper is set to be miles away from Albert Square as she has joined the cast of You, but she isn’t the only soap star to make the Netflix leap.
It was announced this week Cooper would take part in the psychological Netflix thriller for it’s upcoming fourth series, which will be filmed in the UK. But here are more celebs who’ve jumped from the soaps to Hollywood.
Phoebe Dynevor
While many people might know her as the oldest of the Bridgerton daughters and wife of the handsome Duke, but before Dynevor starred in the hit Netflix show Bridgerton the 25-year-old made her TV debut in the BBC series Waterloo Road when she was just 14-years-old. She played the role of school girl Siobhan Mailey for a year, appearing in 20 episodes in the fifth series.
Lucien Laviscount
Before making his Netflix debut in season 2 of Emily in Paris as Alfie, Laviscount started out on the streets Coronation Street in the north of England, in 2009, before moving over to Waterloo Road. In the BBC One series he played a pupil called Jonah who had a true scandal of a storyline where his character went on to marry his Spanish teacher.
Ricky Whittle
Whittle first really found fame in the small Chester village of Hollyoaks where he played Calvin Valentine. After he was dramatically killed off the show by being shot on his wedding day he starred in the 2018 Netflix film Nappily Ever After. After his success on the International streaming site he landed the role on Prime Video in the original series American Gods.
Samara Weaving
Before starring in Ryan Murphy’s Netflix drama Hollywood and the hit Netflix comedy horror The Babysitter: Killer Queen, Weaving made her television debut in Summer Bay in 2013 Home & Away’s Indi Walker. She has since appeared in Oscar-winning film Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, the horror flick Ready Or Not and the comedy Bill & Ted Face the Music.
Anna Shaffer
Since 2019 Shaffer has played the role of Triss Merigold in the Netflix adaptation of The Witcher, alongside Henry Cavill, but before this she was the adorable and mischievous Ruby Button in Hollyoaks. Following her soap fame she also found a role in the Harry Potter films as Romilda Vane.
