From a viral meme to a statue outside the busiest train station in Birmingham. You could say these lads have made it.

Who are the ‘Four Lads in Jeans’?

The ‘Four Lads in Jeans’ was one of the most iconic memes of 2020. The photo of the group was originally shared on Facebook and quickly went viral.

People found the photo hilarious because it accurately portrayed British ‘lads’. The four men truly encapsulate the image of a British ‘lad’. From skinny jeans and Alexander McQueen trainers, to skin fades and tight polo neck tops.

The photo was taken outside All Bar One by Birmingham New Street Station as the group embarked on a lads night out.

The photo originally shared on Facebook can be seen here on the four lads’ official Instagram page.

Bronze Statue for The Lads

On August 27, a statue of the four lads was unveiled in the same spot where they took the famous photo. For a chance to see the statue, make your way to Birmingham New Street Station as soon as possible as it will only be there this weekend!

Papier-mâché artist Tat Vision created the statue and was supported by Birmingham Big Weekender to bring the project to life. What’s more, speaking to Birmingham Live, Tat revealed that his inspiration for the statue was partly drawn from the Ronaldo statue unveiled in 2017 in Madeira airport.

Where are the lads now?

Since going viral, the group have amassed 25 thousand followers on Instagram and 100 thousand on TikTok! Additionally, they have also appeared at star-studded events such as Boxstar Celebrity Boxing 2022 and the BRIT Awards 2021.
