Spring is finally here, but that doesn’t mean that the rainy days are behind us just yet. Wet weather can be a nuisance on your plans, but there is nothing better than curling up on your couch and watching a great film, with the sound of rain batting on your window in the background. So, here are some of the best rainy day films to enjoy next time your plans are drowned out.

Love Actually

This 2003 film is an absolute British classic. Whilst it may be more of a Christmas watch, it is definitely a great rainy day film too. You can invest in your favourite couples again, all whilst in the comfort of your PJs.

Love Actually follows eight couples in London as they go through the trials and tribulations that come with relationships. If you have never seen Love Actually, do yourself a favour and schedule some time into your weekend for watching this uninterrupted.

Tip: Keep the tissues close, you’ll need them.

Notting Hill

Much like Love Actually, Notting Hill is classic romance film. It sees your everyday bookshop owner, in the form of Hugh Grant have a chance encounter with one of the worlds most famous actresses, who is played by one of the world’s most famous actresses, Julia Roberts. They fall for each other, but can they overcome all the problems that come with their vastly different worlds?

The stunning Notting Hill aesthetic throughout this film is enough to make you forget that there are grey skies outside your window.

Despite this film coming out over two decades ago, it is still one of our favourite go-to films when we need a pick-me-up.

Pirates Of The Caribbean Series

If you don’t want a lovey-dovey film this rainy day, then the Pirates of the Caribbean could be the series for you. There are five fantastic films in this series, so you could write off the whole day and embark on the swashbuckling adventure of your life.

Johnny Depp brings the infamous Captain Jack Sparrow to life in a series of voyages that see him usually faced with his biggest enemy. Whether that is other, more powerful pirates of the Kraken, Sparrow uses his wit, charm and dumb luck to try and get out each situation.

These are the ideal films to watch when it is pouring outside as you can pretend you are actually on the seas with Sparrow, Turner, Swann and the rest of the crew.

Up

Up follows an old man, Carl, and an eight-year-old Wilderness Explorer, Russell. The pairs relationship begins very bumpy, but as they spend more time together, Carl begins to open up and we get a beautiful relationship.

This is a great rainy day film that will have you laughing, crying and fully on board with the adventure.

In typical Pixar fashion, this film has a heart wrenching sequence surrounding Carl and Ellie, which still gets us every time.
