It has recently come to light that this season of Love Island (Series 8) is the most-watched ever, with viewing figures reaching 100 million streams.
For a lot of people, Love Island is usually a guilty pleasure, but this year has everyone talking. What’s so special about this year’s islanders, drama and relationships?
Ekin-Su
Need I say more? Ekin-Su has injected more entertainment and drama into Love Island this year than everyone else combined. She was the breath of fresh air the show so desperately needed. The Turkish soap-opera star, or in Davide’s words, “liar, actress”, knows exactly what she wants and no one will stop her from getting it.
From crawling around on all fours to spreading gossip around the villa, it’s never dull. Despite her actress background, I actually believe Ekin-Su may be the most real person in there. Her ‘enemies to lovers’ relationship with Davide has left the nation in awe, wondering if they will or if they won’t.
The unpredictability
Usually, at this point in the summer of love, there are at least a few strong couples, possibly even official relationships. However, this year seems to be more of a slow burner. No one is really that strong, and after the craziness that was Casa Amor, all is to play for.
Heads are turning left, right and centre and toes are being stepped on. Davide kissed Danica, before choosing Antigoni in the recoupling. And of course, Dami ended up coupling up with his best friend’s girl, moments after he was dumped from the island. It’s brutal but amazing. This year’s islanders are going for what they want, with no holding back.
Casa Amor
This year’s Casa Amor is possibly the wildest we’ve ever seen. Loyalties have gone out of the window and relationships are shattering. Dami and Indiyah went from being favourites to win, to be ruined by Casa Amor.
Let’s just say it doesn’t give you confidence in a lads holiday. From Jacques breaking Paige’s heart to Luca sleeping on the day bed, Casa has definitely brought more drama than ever before.
The cast
The cast just works. The bombshells are ‘bombshelling’ and the vibes are immaculate. We’re so excited to tune in at 9pm every night because we actually like the people we’re watching.
Whether it’s watching Dami give advice to everyone, Davide dressing up as a girl, or Luca being all over Gemma, there’s the perfect mix of funny, serious and cute moments that really leave us rooting for these people. Most importantly at the minute, we need to find Danica a man!
