There are different celebrations around the world, with thousands making the effort to be more planet-friendly. The Earth Day Meaning
The meaning behind the day is to educate the world on the problems facing our planet. They also want to motivate everyone to do what they can to protect it.
Starting in 1970, Earth Day is now acknowledged in over 192 countries, with over 150,000 parties around the globe. Not just one day, a whole week is given to the events, with the goal for our planet to be considered 24/7.
This year, as with most, there is a push towards planting trees, ending plastic pollution and supporting sustainable fashion. Earth Day also wants to make people more climate literate, so we’re all aware of climate change and what we can do to help.
A charity, Earth Day.org accept donations, from those who can, to invest in their multiple projects around the world. These include The Canopy Project, restoration and conservation of the rainforests, and The Great Global Clean up, litter picking across the globe.
