Movie The Black Phone was released on 22 June 2022. This thriller and horror film is an hour and 42 minutes long and will definitely have you on the edge of your seat.
Director Scott Derrickson took inspiration for this film from his own childhood experiences and this adaptation of the movie owes plenty to his own short story.
However he expanded this to create a full length feature film and fans must be delighted given the result.
What The Black Phone about?
The Black Phone is about a 13-year-old boy (played by Mason Thames) who is abducted by an extremely creepy and sadistic killer.
He traps Finney in a soundproofed basement with no hope of escape.
Through a black phone on the wall of the basement, Finney realises that he can contact previous victims of the killer who are trying to prevent the horrific and seemingly inevitable death that they went through from happening to Finney.

There is emotional turmoil during this film as our young protagonist realises the previous victims are unable to remember their names. This psychological thriller is amazing and is definitely a testing one.
The Black Phone film is extremely tense yet, throughout, you are desperately hoping that the young boy is able to break free from the killer.
It is worth noting that the monster in this movie is played with amazing skill by Hollywood great Ethan Hawke. He has rarely been better.
With many jump scares and tense moments, your heart will definitely be beating at double-time as you wait to see how things play out.
Previous victims try to create a plan for Finney to escape and give him tips on what he should do to break free from his captor.
I would definitely recommend watching The Black Phone if you are a fan of psychological thrillers, as this one will definitely play on your mind as it draws to its conclusion.
