If you’ve just moved to university and have had a few wild weeks of freshers events, you might be starting to feel the blues now. Or you might be wondering what all of the fuss was about in the first place.

The main thing is that you’ve made it this far! The first few weeks are always the hardest. You’ve done the worst part, well done!

Freshers events, fairs, freebies and alcohol – often a lot of it – can lead to freshers blues. The repetitive hangovers, hair of the dog and takeaways have come to an end and your course has finally started meaning you have to focus. And we all know that hangovers and concentrating is never a good combo.

But you have made some new friends and you’ve got some great memories; the fun is only just starting.

Make your university room more homely

You probably moved in, dumped your stuff in the corner and chucked some fairy lights up before going straight out to socialise, right? Well now that the freshers events are over, why not make it more homely? Make it cosy and add some home touches. Have you pinned all of your home photos up yet?

Make plans

The chaos of freshers has settled so now you can make some plans with your new friends. Go for meals, drinks, cinema trips or walks. Maybe even invite your home friends up to see your new place?

Carry on the fun

Just because freshers is over doesn’t mean the fun stops! In fact, it’s just started. Freshers is a time to make new friends and chat to as many people as possible. Now you might have made a few connections and can start making plans.

But if you didn’t make these connections, don’t worry. A lot of people don’t. Try joining a society and going to some socials to see who you bond with.

You either loved freshers or found it extremely overwhelming, either way, hopefully you grew from it. It’s a chaotic few weeks of fun and, often, anxiety. Now you can take this time to relax and start your next chapter.
