Ah the dreaded creative slump. Artist fatigue, writer’s block, burnout. Whatever you want to call it, it doesn’t matter. You just want to know how to overcome it. All the ideas are there, but there’s something stopping you. What is it? What?
Calm down for a second. Periods of stillness are natural for creatives. You will soon revert back to the state of neurotic unstoppable genius. But I know you’re impatient, so here are a few ways to kickstart inspiration.
Begin
It really is that simple. Stop procrastinating and let go of your feelings of failure. The pressure will ease and your creative juices will flow. Focus on the moment and stop caring so much. Your work doesn’t have to be perfect. Don’t let your mind be consumed by pointless worries and anxieties. Just take one task at a time.
Write down your ideas
Inspiration can strike at the strangest times, so make sure to keep a note of your ideas. Keep an idea book by your side, or write everything down in your notes app. Find what works for you and revisit the ideas when you’re feeling stuck. Keep up the momentum and think of a couple new ideas each day. This way you’ll never run out of new projects.

Switch it up
If you’ve hit a wall maybe something needs to change. If you can’t figure out what it is, switch things up. Push yourself out of your comfort zone, delve into a new creative field. Even take a new walk or try a different coffee shop. Breaking out of the same routine can help you think of new ideas. And trying new things boosts creativity, so you won’t be stuck in this rut for long.
Create an inspiration playlist
Take your mind away from work and make a playlist full of songs which inspire you. Make sure to include ballads, guilty pleasures and throwback bangers. Dance, singalong and immerse yourself in the music. This will give you a much needed serotonin boost to expel any of the negativity holding you back.

Talk about it
Talking about your feelings helps organise them. You can figure things out by talking out loud or your friends and family can help with a different perspective. If you don’t feel like sharing, write down your feelings in a diary or create a video journal. Talking to yourself can spark the madness needed to create.
