With A-Level results day fast approaching it’s definitely natural to be feeling a little nervous. It’s a big day that you have been waiting months for. It might feel overwhelming, but follow our tips on how to prepare and you will be feeling calmer about it in no time.

Consider Your Options

While the last thing that you want to think about is not getting the grades you hoped for, it could be a possibility. It is much better to consider what you want to do now than panic on results day. Whether this is re-taking some exams, taking a year out to travel or finding another university place through clearing, think about what you want to do if it doesn’t go your way. If you’re opting to go through clearing, get organised. Take a look at courses and universities that you would like to go to if you aren’t accepted into your firm choice. Make a list, including their clearing hotline numbers, so that you are prepared to begin calling universities as soon as you get your results.

Get an Early Night

The night before is when your nerves will kick in the most. Take some time to relax and keep yourself distracted. Watch a film or hang out with friends, but be sure to get an early night. Not only will sleeping take away any nerves, it will make sure you are rested for the day ahead. UCAS opens at eight so expect an early start.

Get Ready to Celebrate

No matter how results day goes for you, at the end of the day it’s time to celebrate. Making it through your A-Levels, regardless of what grades you get, is a huge achievement. Plan a meal with your family or a night out with friends to celebrate your results. It will give you something to look forward to on results day instead of being nervous about it.

Remember that Grades Aren’t Everything

As Jeremy Clarkson tweets every year, your grades don’t define you. If the day hasn’t gone your way, try not to be too disappointed. There are plenty of options for everyone, no matter what grades you achieve and you are still capable of doing anything that you want to do.
