How To Spend Easter At University

Add as preferred source on Google

With deadlines and dissertations looming, many students are choosing to stay at uni over Easter rather than going home to see family. While this might be the best decision for your degree, it can be difficult spending the holidays away from home. But that doesn’t mean you can’t do anything fun! Here are a few ways to spend the Easter break at university.

Go for a day out

During term time it can be easy to forget the cool things going on in our university cities, but Easter break is the perfect time to explore. Check out what The National Trust has to offer in your area, or maybe visit a local museum. These can be great to do with a friend, but I promise nobody will judge you for going alone.

Cook your favourite meal

Yes, it’s easier to get a takeaway or a ready-meal, but there’s nothing like a home-cooked meal. Not only will it taste great in the end, the process of cooking can be the perfect way to unwind, especially if you make something like a casserole which can be done at your own pace. If you really want to feel like you are back home, ask a family member how to make that special dish you love.

Have a sleepover

The art of the sleepover is lost on us once we reach adulthood. Sleeping at a friend’s house is now usually a matter of convenience rather than a fun activity. But there’s no reason we shouldn’t be having fun sleepovers anymore. If any of your friends are still at uni over Easter, invite them round to watch a cheesy romcom and drink hot chocolate.

Pick up a new hobby (or rekindle an old one)

With friends gone home and classes finished you’re probably going to find yourself with a lot more free time than usual (even with all the work you probably have). If you’ve always want to learn to crochet, or you want to start playing the flute again, now is the perfect time! Find some YouTube tutorials and get learning, even if you aren’t very good, the process is half the fun.

Visit a new city

Now that foreign holidays are back on the table, it can be easy to forget that here in the UK there are so many interesting places to visit. Whatever you’re interested in, there’s a city. Do you love history? Check out Chester or Edinburgh. Want to see some art? Take a trip to Liverpool or Bristol. Fancy some vintage shopping? Why not visit Manchester or Brighton? Wherever your university is, there’s probably a cool city you can visit for just the day, but if you’d rather, you can always stay the night in a hostel.

Get some work done

Yes, I know, this one isn’t very fun, but think of it as an investment in future fun. If you get a bunch of work done now, once your friends come back after the holidays you’ll have so much more free time to spend with them.
