WhatsApp has become the go-to messaging service for billions of people around the world. So it comes as a shock when the app isn’t available. This has been the problem this morning – October 25 – as people have been asking that fateful question: Is WhatsApp Down?
The answer, unfortunately, is yes. The service is currently unavailable in the UK.
WhatsApp Not Sending Messages
Around 8:20 GMT, WhatsApp stopped sending messages. Users are currently able to type the message and hit send. However, the clock appears next to the message, meaning it has not yet been sent.
The clock means that it will eventually go through. But users will have to wait until WhatsApp is back up and running.
For now, the Connecting message appears, which means the app is trying to connect.
It is similar to when something is trying to connect to the internet but can’t make a connection.
Is WhatsApp Down In The UK?
Yes, WhatsApp is currently down in the UK. At the time of writing, it is unknown when the service will be up and running again.
This is a major problem for people across the country, who use the app to stay in touch with family, friends and work colleagues.
For now, we will have to reply on alternative ways of communication, from old-fashioned text messages to the good old phone call. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing. We often rely on the quickest form of communication these days but, when something like WhatsApp has an outage, it forces us to reach out to loved ones in other ways.
Pick Up That Phone
While WhatsApp is unavailable, why not call the people that you would usually reply to with a one-word response or an emoji. It may just make their day.
We will keep an eye on the situation throughout the day and update this article when WhatsApp is back up and running.
