Jack Rooke’s autobiographical TV show Big Boys is set to return for a second series on Channel 4 after a “phenomenally kind” response to season 1.
The show, which is based on Rooke’s younger years first hit television screens this year and received impressive reviews and love for the characters.
Jack Rooke’s Big Boys TV Show
Big Boys is a semi-autobiographical TV show based on the life of Rooke – following the successes of his Edinburgh Fringe Festival show.
The show revolves around a fictionalised version of Rooke attending Brent University and exploring his sexuality while grieving for his father, helped by his friendship with his more extroverted flatmate he describes as ‘looking like a Take Me Out, contestant’.
The first series was written and narrated by Jack Rooke, and starred Dylan Llewellyn (as Jack’s younger self), Jonathan Pointing (as Jack’s flatmate Danny) and Camille Coduri.
Big Boys TV Show Season 2
Season 2 of Big Boys was confirmed by Channel 4 that Roughcut TV, the show’s creator, would be coming promising more “sex, drugs and tears in series 2”.
Ash Atalla, Managing Director, Roughcut TV said: ‘Big Boys comes from the heart and soul of Jack Rooke and we’re so happy to bring it back. We promise more sex, drugs and tears in series 2.’
Rooke also spoke of the success of the show and said the response they’d received was “phenomenally kind” as he talked about his excitement for a second instalment.
He said: ‘The response to Big Boys series 1 has been so phenomenally kind, heartwarming and beyond anything any of us could have hoped for, the fact we got onto Gogglebox is probably the proudest moment of mine and my mum’s lives (she got over 100 likes on Facebook for it!).
‘And so after a huge spitroast at Harvester, I decided I probably do have some more embarrassing stories about me & my mates to mine for comic material so get ready for an even more cringe second year at Brent University’
