James Corden Leaving America On His Terms

Cicely McFarlane May 7, 2022

James Corden was most famous in the UK for his role as the lovable character Smithy in the UK mini-series Gavin and Stacey, written by himself and Ruth Jones.

Yet he stormed America and has now become one of the most connected celebrities in the United States, mainly through The Late Late show, which he began hosting on 23 March 2015.

This is where he coined the idea of Carpool karaoke, which has involved A-list celebrities and singers.

With the announcement of Corden’s run on The Late Late Show coming to an end in 2023, it is unbelievable to see how this British comedy star has grown his name and celebrity over the years.

Some people even say Corden is too much in the public eye now, as he even hosted the long-awaited Friends reunion in 2021. But is this just jealousy of someone who has become extremely successful from his talent, acting, comedy, and now hosting skills?

What is 100% true is that Corden has used every avenue and opportunity he has worked for and got given to push his career further.

Why does this star get so much criticism online?

Perhaps because he has strayed from the British comedy style and moved towards the LA life that he has acclimatised to. Does Corden enjoy as much popularity in the UK as he does in the states?

From the reunion of Gavin and Stacey for the Christmas special in 2020, fans still obsess over his amazing comedic writing.

One thing that cannot be denied is his talent for comedy. Even if he has become the go-to guy in America, he will always be the loveable smithy to the Brits.

Make sure to watch The Late Late Show before Corden moves on and enjoy the best bits of the already iconic Carpool karaoke; such as Harry Styles and Adele. These are just a few of my favourites episodes.
