As former One Direction member Liam Payne and his fiancee, Maya Henry, end their relationship, we take a look at the world-famous singer’s dating history from X Factor to now.
Danielle Peazer 2010-2013
Liam and Danielle met on the set of X Factor, where Liam was competing with his bandmates and Danielle was a backing dancer, having trained at the English National Ballet School. Danielle confirmed the pair were dating on Twitter in April 2011. After a brief split in 2012, they reunited and bought a dog, Loki, together. They split for good in 2013, citing difficult work schedules.
They still remain friends to this day. Danielle is now a model and a rep for Bic Soleil razors and Reebok, as well as being a sports influencer with over one million Instagram followers.
Sophia Smith 2013-2015
Having previously gone to school together in Wolverhampton, Liam and Sophia reunited in 2013 at a mutual friend’s birthday party. In August of 2013, Liam flew Sophia out to join him on the US leg of the Take Me Home tour. In the same month, he confirmed their relationship during the press conference for the documentary film about the band – This Is Us.
Liam confirmed the song Illusion, from the band’s album Four, is about his relationship with Sophia. Following their split in 2015, Liam said he was ‘devastated’, but that it was the right thing to do as long distance was not working for them. Sophia graduated from Birmingham City University with a degree in fashion business and promotion in 2016. She has a dog named Ralph, gifted to her by Liam for Christmas in 2014.
Cheryl 2016-2018
Perhaps Liam’s most talked about relationship saw him coupling up with X Factor judge and fellow musician Cheryl. The pair first met when Liam auditioned for the talent show aged 14. Fast forward almost a decade, and the couple confirmed their romance. In March of 2017, their son Bear Grey Payne was born. A year later, they released a joint statement confirming their relationship had ended, but they remain on good terms as co-parents.
Maya Henry- 2019-2022
Texan model Maya and Liam began dating in August 2019 before getting engaged a year later. Then, in June 2021 the pair called off their engagement, with Liam stating in a podcast that he was ‘disappointed in himself’. In August 2021, they reunited.
Maya’s family were the stars of a Kardashians style reality show ‘Hangin with Los Henrys’ which followed the high-profile family’s life.

Influencer, model and star of Liam’s music video for his song Familiar, The Sun claims Aliana has been dating Liam for a few weeks and recently touched down at Heathrow with the singer following a flight from Los Angeles. Aliana, aged 21, is currently a brand rep for fashion company Fashionnova.
