The comedic voice of Love Island, Iain Stirling, is making his Prime Video debut with a whole new stand-up show.

It was announced on Wednesday, April 27, Stirling will be releasing his first Amazon Original stand-up special Failing Upwards exclusively on Prime Video on May 27.

Who is Iain Stirling?

The 34-year-old comedian is probably best know for being the hilarious voice commenting on all the antics going on on the BAFTA-award winning show, Love Island.

But, his career actually kicked off back in 2009 when he was spotted by CBBC, for which he became the channel presenter – alongside his canine sidekick Hacker T. Dog, of course, from the CBBC TV show Scoop.

In 2013 the comedian moved on to recording a new show for CBBC, The Dog Ate My Homework, which was commissioned as the kids answer to Mock the Week. All which got him nominated for a BAFTA in 2014 for best children’s presenter.

In 2015 Stirling moved on to Love Island where he’s served as the voiceover for eight consecutive seasons and from 2020 he worked alongside his co-host and wife Laura Whitmore after she took over presenting the show from the pair’s late friend Caroline Flack.

Stirling has also presented the ITV show CelebAbility for several years and will be continuing this summer for the show’s sixth consecutive series. Also, in March 2021, Stirling announced he had created a new sitcom with Steve Bugeja, Buffering, which he not only co-wrote but starred in.

Buffering is a millennial sitcom following Iain, a children’s TV presenter with an aversion to kids, and his friends who are all navigating that age where they’re too old for nightclubs but too poor for mortgages.

All About Failing Upwards

Stirling has been touring as a stand-up comedian for years now, but Failing Upwards is set to be his debut Amazon Original.

The new special was recorded at London’s iconic Alexandra Palace Theatre explores topics including Stirling’s inability to function in the most basic of public settings, the pressures of being in the public eye and that one time a man stole his shoes.

In the show the Chortle and double BAFTA-nominated comedian makes self-effacing jokes and plays on his insecurities – owning them as he does.

Failing Upwards premieres on Prime Video, worldwide, on May 27.
