Milly Alcock Lived In Mum’s Attic Before Starring In House Of The Dragon

Milly Alcock, star of the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel has revealed she used to live in her mum’s attic before getting cast in House of the Dragon.

The 22-year-old actor who plays young princess Rhaenyra Targaryen in the fantasy prequel spoke candidly with Stellar about how much her life has changed since she landed the role in such a highly-anticipated series.

Set around 300 years before the events of the OG show, House of the Dragon chronicle the beginning of the end of House Targaryen and the events leading up to the Targaryen civil war, known as the ‘Dance of the Dragons’.

The show is based on portions of Martin’s 2018 novel Fire & Blood and features a mega star-studded cast including The Crown’s Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen – younger brother of King Viserys and heir to the throne.

Olivia Cooke plays Alicent Hightower, the daughter of Otto Hightower, the Hand of the King.

Emma D’Arcy is also in among the stars and plays Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen – the king’s first-born child, who is of pure Valyrian blood and a dragon rider.

Steve Toussaint is Lord Corlys Velaryon, known as the Sea Snake – a famed nautical adventurer who has built his house into a powerful and wealthy seat.

House of the Dragon also stars Paddy Considine as King Viserys Targaryen and Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower.

This will be the first major role for Millie Alcock as the Sydney-born star said previously worked in a restaurant washing dishes.

She said: ‘I never thought this would happen to me. I was washing dishes in a restaurant, living in my mum’s attic. This doesn’t happen to people like me, so it was incredibly quick.’

Milly went on to explain the moment she got the call saying she landed the role she ‘froze’. She said: ‘I froze, and took a deep breath and said to my friend, “Do you have wine?” Then I called my mum.’

The 22-year-old also went on to explain she dropped out of school to pursue acting as school was ‘never really her thing’.

‘I was like, I either have to sit all of my exams in rural Australia or I was just going to drop out of school,’ she continued, ‘So I dropped out because it was never really my thing.’
