Elizabeth Debicki is set to stun as Lady Diana, Princess of Wales, in The Crown season 5, but there are plenty of movies to watch her in before it drops on Netflix.
Although production for season six of the hit Netflix royal show in respect of the death of Queen Elizabeth II – the life of whom the show revolves around – the doesn’t mean things are gearing up for the release of season 5 and the whole new cast as they enter the 90s.
The Crown Season 5
Season 5 of The Crown will take the Windsor family into the 1990s, through the divorce of several royal siblings -Princess Anne and Prince Andrew both divorced this decade – the Queen’s annus horribilis (horrible year) of 1992 when Windsor Castle went up in flames and of course the messy separation of Prince Charles (now King Charles III) and Princess Diana, which was played out horrifically in the media.
Every two seasons of the show all the characters are recast – so Queen Elizabeth II has been portrayed on screen by Claire Foy and Olivia Colman, but will now be portrayed by Imelda Staunton (Harry Potter fans, you will know her) and Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh was played by Matt Smith and Tobias Menzies, but will now be played by Jonathan Pryce (Game of Thrones fans will be there for this actor).
Dominic West will be taking over the role of the Prince of Wales and it’s assumed the moment he admitted his infidelities in an interview will be played out, as well as Diana’s shocking BBC Panorama interview.
Diana has also been recast as the innocent-looking Emma Corrin has been replaced by Elizabeth Debicki who will portray Diana through her truly style-icon years of the 90s.

Whereas Corrin was pretty new in the industry when she took on the role of Diana being a new royal Debicki is no stranger to a good series or movie and has had some amazing roles in the past.
This versatile actor has been in everything from Peter Rabbit and Guardians of the Galaxy to The Cloverfield Paradox and The Great Gatsby.
Although she may not be a household name Debicki has starred alongside some huge names – she acted with Leonardo DiCaprio in The Great Gatsby, Michael Fassbender in Macbeth, and Jake Gyllenhaal in Everest.
The 32-year-old was really exposed to a wider audience when she starred in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as Ayesha, the golden-skinned High Priestess of the Sovereign. Definitely, a family favourite to see her in and great for any Marvel fans.
Debicki took on a completely different role in Widows alongside Viola Davis as the widow of a criminal husband, which she received rave reviews for.
In the dystopian movie, The Cloverfield Paradox Debicki plays Jensen, one of the research scientists aboard the Cloverfield Station. This is a great one to watch the star in if you’re a huge sci-fi/thriller fan.
However, you can’t ever overlook her second movie ever, The Great Gatsby. In the period drama Debicki plays Jordan Baker, a socialite in wealthy playboy Jay Gatsby’s inner circle, she is a frequent attendee of his lavish parties and a friend to the main character Nick Carraway.
The Crown Season 5 Release Date
Of course, her next highly-anticipated role will be Princess Diana, but when can you expect to see her appear on your screen?
According to Forbes, the release date for The Crown season 5 is November 2022 – that’s right, in just two show months fans will get their next dose of royal drama.
