The French Netflix show Call My Agent! is going to be made into a West End Musical, set to hit the stage by 2024.
For anyone not familiar with the show, it shows the day-to-day goings on of talent agency – ASK and, basically, if you’ve loved any version of The Office, you’ll love this.
What is Call My Agent!?
The much-loved series hit the streaming site back in 2015 takes on an unusual form of comedy that has captured the hearts of many throughout the world. The French series sadly ended after four seasons but that doesn’t mean that the drama has to be over just yet.
Fans have shared rumours it would be adapted into a film for quite some time which is exciting in itself but the news has now been announced that Call My Agent! will be adapted into a musical.
This is going to excite many fans with rumours suggesting that there may even be a special guest each night entering the stage, much like the television format. The musical is something that many could never have imagined would happen but it is definitely a much welcomed surprise.
Producer, Adam Kenwright expressed his delight at the news as he told London Theatre: ‘We are so excited about bringing Call My Agent! to life in a new West End musical. We believe we can produce a brand-new musical that can deliver wit, comedy and high drama with the romance of Paris.’
What To Expect From The Musical
For those thinking that the musical will be a direct copy of the show, this is not going to be the case and Michel Feller, the TV series’ producer has spoken up about the need to bring something new to the concept if it is serious about being successful on stage.
He told The Daily Mail: ‘It’s not a good thing to make a copy of us. They need to be totally free to make the best show they can…don’t be too respectable with our show.’
It seems that the musical will be a refreshing take on the popular show whilst retaining its key messaging, especially regarding the unpredictable nature of life in the talent industry.
Although, it will be a while before the musical comes to the stage, tickets are set to be released long before then so fans should keep a look out if they wish to be one of the first to experience the musical world of ASK.
