Nicolas Cage says he’s eager to take on the role of a villain in a sequel to The Batman – and he even has the perfect role in mind, Egghead.
The Batman movie, starring Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, has officially hit cinemas and people are loving it, so much so it’s sparked excitement over a prospective sequel.

At the film’s UK premiere the film’s director Matt Reeves spoke to the press about the prospects of a sequel to which he said they’d ‘started talking about another movie’.
He said: ‘You don’t make number one as if there’s going to be a number two. You have to make number one as if you’re swinging for the fences and it has to be a story that stands and lives on its own. But I really believe in what we’ve done and I’d be excited to tell more stories.’
‘We are already telling other stories in the streaming space, we’re doing stuff on HBO Max, we’re doing a Penguin show with Colin, which is gonna be super cool. And we’re working on some other stuff too but we have started talking about another movie.’

Cage has recently taken on the role of a fictionalised version of himself in his latest film The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent which premiered at SXSW on March 12.
While on the red carpet he spoke to Fox reporters that not only does he want to be in the next The Batman movie and he knows what villain he wants to play: Egghead.
“We have this new [movie with] Robert Pattinson as The Batman, which I’m excited to see. I haven’t seen it yet but I think he would be terrific,” the 58-year-old said.
‘The villain that Vincent Price played on the 1960s show, Egghead, I think I want to have a go at Egghead. I think I can make him absolutely terrifying. And I have a concept for Egghead. So let them know over at Warner Bros. I’m down for Egghead.’
In the comic books, the bald-headed Egghead is a master criminal and one of the smartest people in the world and in the 1960s was played by Vincent Price alongside Adam West as Batman.
The Batman Success
Since The Batman film – which also stars Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman – hit cinemas Friday March 4. on March 4 it is rapidly approaching the $500 million mark at the worldwide box office.
The film has not only had monetary success, but just hours after the film was released fans took to Twitter to call it a ‘masterpiece’ and compliment the lead actors for their performances.
If this success is anything to go by, and support from actors and the director, a sequel likely, but Warner Bros. is yet to announce one.
