We all love a good night out. And university can see you going out every week. So, make sure you know these staple dos and don’ts to save you from the multitude of things that could go wrong on a night out.
Don’t mix drinks
If you’re drinking beer, drink beer. If you’re drinking vodka, firstly, ew, but, secondly, stick to vodka. Mixing drinks on a night out can be a recipe for disaster. You’ll be hitting those toilets much quicker than you wanted.
Do line your stomach
Having a good meal before you go out drinking will delay alcohol from entering your system. You don’t want to be that person who has two drinks and is already crying on the floor. So, make sure you’ve had a substantial meal. No, toast does not count. Go for chips and steak or pasta.
Don’t wear uncomfortable shoes
If you are just going out on the town, there is no reason you should dig out those red six-inch stilettos. While they may look stunning on Instagram, an hour into the night out your feet will be killing you. It’s always better to be comfy than to be smiling through the pain as hour three of dancing on a blister comes along.
Do bring the essentials
Your Gran may think you’re a grown up now because you’re at university, but let’s be honest, you still look fourteen. So you definitely need your ID.
Obviously, you need money. It is probably best to bring a credit card rather than cash. You don’t want to be looking for a random pocket to put your change in.
And not like you need telling, but bring your phone. On the chance that you lose your friends, you’re going to need it.
Don’t just keep drinking
Don’t keep drinking after you’ve had enough. Peer pressure can be a strong influence on a night out, so try to stick to your guns. Just because you are out, doesn’t mean that you have to have a drink in your hand at all times. Anyway, how can you do the YMCA with all your might if you’ve got a drink in your hand?
Do pregame
Predrinking is drinking before you go out. This saves you money! If you hit the clubs when you’re tipsy, then you will only need a few more drinks before those One Direction songs have you crying in the middle of the dancefloor. Clearly, do not hit predrinks too hard and make yourself too drunk that you won’t be able to get into clubs.
Don’t text your ex
Just don’t. You’ll regret it. We all regret it.
