Everyone loves a good bit of nostalgia, don’t they? With retro and Y2K trends coming back into fashion, I thought it would be a good time to take a trip down memory lane and re-discover some of our favourite, and most nostalgic, childhood sweets.
We were all obsessed with these in the 00’s but the chances are you may have forgotten just how much you loved them.
Brain Lickers
Gosh, the amount of E numbers in these was sky high but we didn’t care. The sweet that resembled a roll on deodorant had captured our hearts, mainly because it stained our tongues blue. My parents actually banned me from these as they made me too hyper.
Candy Necklaces
Coming to think of it, these candy necklaces were pretty grimy. We would be constantly nibbling on the sweets throughout the day, ending up with us wearing a string of… well… saliva. The sweets also got super sticky on a hot day but at least it looked pretty for all of 2 minutes.
Toxic Waste
Anything with the name Toxic Waste should probably be steered clear from. These were used as the ultimate dare and separated the brave from the wimps. The lemon flavour just had to be the sourest sweet I had ever tried.
Candy Sticks
These powdery sticks tasted of nothing! They were as plain as could be but we thought we were so cool, pretending to “smoke” them. Oh, the innocence.
Hubba Bubba
Hubba Bubba! Every kid in secondary school had one of these in their pockets, chewing the bubble-gum behind the teachers’ backs. It was the go to gum and came in different flavours, with the taste being our favourite part!
Ring Pops
Hands up who used to pretend they were married with a ring pop on their hand? Me! These were so fun but a little tricky to actually eat.
Dip Dabs
Dip dabs were legendary creations but our parents weren’t best pleased when the sherbet went EVERYWHERE! We loved making a mess though!
Gobstoppers
GIANT gobstoppers were the best investment of our time. We’d spend 50p on one and be sucking it for days. I loved how the flavour and colour would change as your got through the layers. It felt like I was living my Charlie and the Chocolate Factory dream.
