Some of the most brilliant people have been celebrated as a Google Doodle and the October 5 inspiration is every teacher around the world with World Teachers Day.
Without teachers, there wouldn’t be doctors, engineers, scientists, vets, builders, writers, or artists, chances are any profession you’re in now a teacher has aided some aspect of you getting there.
October 5th Google Doodle
The October 5 Google Doodle is to celebrate World Teachers Day – a day when educators are recognised around the world.
The Google Doodle shows pieces of stationery and school equipment students rejoicing in a classroom being led by a right-angle triangle teacher.
The animation will be visible to Google users across the UK, and North America, along with regions of Europe, Africa and Asia.
What is World Teachers Day?
World Teachers’ Day has been held on October 5 every year since 1994, this is because the date marks the signing of the Unesco/ILO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers, which addressed the status of the profession around the world.
Now more than 100 nations across the world mark World Teachers’ Day, with students being encouraged to take part in the celebrations.
Every year, a two-day conference is held at the Unesco headquarters in Paris to mark the date, with a series of debates and discussions around a central annual theme and this year, the theme is “The Transformation of Education Begins With Teachers”.
On social media, Unesco has called teachers the “backbone of education” and is saying they should be better paid and respected.
All On The Board is also celebrating the day with a story from the perspective of the board going to a “boarding school”. The post says they are sending “love and appreciation” to all those who teach and educate.
Whereas UNICEF is using the day to call on governments across the world to provide teachers with more support so they can help as many children as possible learn and they call educators “irreplaceable”.
