Season seven of Queer Eye has just launched on Netflix and we couldn’t be more excited. Over the years, the Fab Five have helped over 60 people turn their lives into the one they have always dreamed of. From a home renovation to a chic new hairstyle and who can forget the tear-jerking conversations with Karamo, Queer Eye has it all. Before we binge the new season, let’s remember all of our favourite Queer Eye heroes from seasons past.

Jess Guilbeaux, Season 3, Episode 5

When the Fab Five met Jess, she had had to drop out of university due to piling student debt. She revealed that her adoptive parents had kicked her out at age 16 when she came out to them.

However, during her episode, Jess was reunited with her long-lost sister and given a full makeover which helped her become more confident in her queerness.

Since the show, Jess has gained a great online following, currently with 129,000 followers on Instagram. When her fans realised she still could not go back to university, a crowd funding page was created for her. Over $100,000 was raised for the hero. She is one of the truest Queer Eye heroes out there.

Skylar Jay, Season 2, Episode 5

After his top surgery, Skylar was struggling to find his style and go from boy to man. The Fab Five helped bring this out of him; especially Tan, who binned his tank tops and got Jay in suave button downs.

In 2018, Jay completed his undergraduate degree at The University of Georiga. However, he went on to sue the university after they denied him health insurance three times to cover his gender surgeries.

The hero now runs educational seminars and fundraisers surrounding transgender care.

William Mahnken, Season 2, Episode 5

Film-buff William Mahnken came to the Fab Five with little confidence and a unique style to say the least. However, with the shows help, by the end of his episode, Mahnken was ready to propose to his girlfriend, Shannan.

The couple tied the knot in a beautiful beach ceremony back in 2018. Since then, they have even gone into business together. MugShotz is the couple’s so-called “Selfie Museum” in their hometown of Georgia.

Tom Jackson, Season 1, Episode 1

Cast your mind back to the very first episode of this rebooted show. We were met with Tom Jackson, a self-proclaimed redneck who coined one of the saddest phrases on the show, “You can’t fix ugly.” By the end of the show, Tom had done a complete one-eighty and was even on the verge of getting back together with his ex-wife.

Tom sadly passed in 2023 at the age of 63. Parts of his obituary read:

“He brought joy, humor, persistence, and love to our family. He is special to us, and we look forward to seeing him again one day… In lieu of flowers, please watch season 1, episode 1 of Queer Eye on Netflix and tell others about it in honor of Tom.”
